See or hear the number. Set the beads. Keep going.
Number to Bead (N2B) trains the reverse skill of Bead to Number: you see or hear a number, then place it on a digital soroban (Japanese abacus). That mapping — digits to bead positions — is how students learn to visualize an abacus in their mind.
Placing numbers on beads builds the muscle memory behind mental abacus. Once this is fluent, addition and Flash Anzan become far easier — you are moving imaginary beads instead of counting on your fingers.
If you want to go beyond a single drill and truly learn mental math, SumoMath is a free program. Register at www.sumomath.com to get started with structured training, including anzan, flash practice, audibles, and soroban.
Is Number to Bead free on SumoMath? Yes. This tool is free in your browser — no download required.
What settings can I change? Rods (1–5 digits), Show Numbers or Speak Number, and speech language in audio mode.
